SEIKO X ROWING BLAZERS: SUMMER 2023
Following two fast-selling collaborations in 2021 and 2022, we’re once again joining forces with our friends at Seiko for a new collection of summer-inspired 5 Sports watches.
The new Seiko x Rowing Blazers capsule, designed by Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson and vintage watch expert Eric Wind, utilizes the same platform as the brands’ previous collaboration and is based on a 1970 Seiko 6106-7107 70m Sport Diver offered in four new summer colors: pink, yellow, purple, and a white dial with hour markers in our signature croquet stripe motif.
“FOLLOWING UP ON OUR FIRST TWO SUCCESSFUL CAPSULES WITH SEIKO, OUR THIRD IS GEARED TOWARDS SUMMER. WE WERE INSPIRED BY VINTAGE SEIKO WATCHES, BUT ALSO HAD OUR OWN TWIST ON THE DIAL COLORS.”
Each reference is limited to 888 numbered pieces and comes with both a bracket and an additional nylon strap: navy with white stripes for the pink dial; red/yellow/green for the yellow dial; dark green-and-yellow for purple dial; and pale pink for the white dial.
The crown features a Rowing Blazers monogram, and the caseback features our skeleton “Tempus Fugit” (“Time Flies”) motif. The days of the week can be set to display in English or Japanese, and the second hand features our red-and-white candy stripe. Each watch comes in a special presentation box.
“The case is 40mm,” Jack notes, “but it wears smaller. I love that, and I love the smooth bezel. The new colors feel nostalgic, but also very relevant for today at the same time.”
Eric adds: “Following up on our first two successful capsules with Seiko, our third is geared toward summer. We were inspired by vintage Seiko watches, but also had our own twist on the dial colors.”
Additional details for the watches include: caliber 4R36 with manual and automatic winding capabilities; 24 jewels; 21,600 vibrations per hour; approximately 41 hours of power reserve; luminous hands and markers; and stainless-steel cases and bracelets.
The new Rowing Blazers x Seiko 5 Sports capsule is available now: here on our site; at Seiko USA; at Hodinkee; and at our NYC flagship store at 8 Rivington Street.
