Willy Spiller x Rowing Blazers (Shop our limited edition collaboration with Willy Spiller)
Legendary Swiss photographer Willy Spiller spent seven years in New York, shooting the underground world of the New York City subway system between 1977 and 1984. His images are raw and document a famously tortured time for the city and its public transit, but the photographs are also rich with life and personality. They’re an ode to the millions of different lives intersecting underground every day.
Spiller’s images—shot on Kodachrome slide film—are candids. He was working as a photojournalist but was never tasked with capturing the subways. His photos are simply products of his daily routine, while riding the train to and from work assignments.
We’ve chosen four of Spiller’s most iconic images for the limited edition Rowing Blazers x Willy Spiller capsule. The photographs are featured on heavyweight reverse-weave hoodies in black, white, and the city’s iconic orange-and-blue colors; and on black and white tees.
The Rowing Blazers x Willy Spiller collection is now available online and in stores in Soho, Williamsburg, and Brentwood.
