NEW FROM WARM & WONDERFUL: THE “DIANA EDITION” SHEEP SWEATER IN COTTON

Warm & Wonderful — the heritage British knitwear brand behind the iconic “Black Sheep” jumper made famous by Princess Diana — has released a new iteration of their flagship design: the lighter-weight “Diana Edition” Sheep Sweater in Cotton featuring painstaking, historically-accurate updates to both the pattern and fit.

INCREDIBLY, WE RECENTLY HAD THE CHANCE TO STUDY THE ACTUAL SHEEP SWEATER THAT BELONGED TO THE PRINCESS OF WALES, AND, BASED ON WHAT WE LEARNED, CREATED THE NEW “DIANA EDITION” SHEEP SWEATER

Incredibly, we recently had the chance to study the actual Sheep Sweater that belonged to the Princess of Wales - more on that amazing story coming soon! — and, based on what we learned, created the new “Diana Edition” Sheep Sweater in 100% cotton. The updated sweaters feature a slightly different knitting gauge for improved texture and a less bulky weight, while the pattern’s been tweaked as well: the sheep are now cream, instead of bright white, with an updated shape and — for the first time since the earliest examples from the late 70s and early 80s — dimensional, hand-embroidered eyes. This also marks the first time in decades that Warm & Wonderful has produced the Sheep Sweater in cotton, and we’ve also improved the fit for both women and men.

Warm & Wonderful was founded by friends Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir, who began selling their knitted jumpers out of a market stall in West London's Covent Garden in 1979. Their first design — one black sheep amongst a flock of white ones — instantly became a global phenomenon when a young Lady Diana Spencer was photographed wearing it to a polo match the following year. Over forty years later, Rowing Blazers founder and creative director Jack Carlson helped revive the dormant brand, and now, according to Sally and Jo, “it’s lovely to see that this simple design is still making people smile.” The iconic motif is now featured across a full collection of apparel and accessories.
