We’re proud to announce that one of our favorite headwear brands - Los Angeles’ very own Hood - is now available at Rowing Blazers.

The script hat was made famous by a company called Sports Specialties. Founded in the 1920s, the company pioneered the concept of licensed product. By the ‘80s, its all-wool hats with beautifully embroidered script team and location names (no logo necessary) were beginning to take off. By the early ‘90s - helped by their popularity among suit-clad, just-signed NBA stars, and, of course, by NWA, the script hat was becoming an icon.

Not all script hats are created equal, however, and today almost no one is producing them the old-fashioned way in 100% wool. (An original vintage all-wool Raiders script hat, for instance, is almost worth its weight in gold). But Hood is doing something rare: their hats are 100% merino wool and made in the U.S.A. And their script is just right. They aren’t knocking off the originals, however; instead of professional sports teams, their hats celebrate some of the planets most beloved places and neighborhoods - from Silver Lake to Bed-Stuy, Cambridge to Coconut Grove, Sun Valley to St. Tropez.
