Happy Earth Day
The global fashion industry produces over 92 million tons of waste annually; we know that’s inherently unsustainable, and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is full of it. But we also believe that there’s value in trying your best, in innovating, and in providing an alternative to the status quo.
At Rowing Blazers, we’re rigorous and earnest in our attempts to promote human, animal and environmental welfare. We work to upcycle waste materials, using leftover scraps of fabric to construct our End-of-the-Day Rugbies and patchwork tweed. When possible, we invest in alternative technologies and innovative materials like Cashball®, a sustainable down alternative, and avoid using fur, Angora, shearling, horsehair, exotic skins, down, feathers, and materials that release plastic microfibers into the environment. All of our factories are OEKO-TEX®-certified, meaning they adhere to strict parameters designed to eliminate harmful substances and chemicals from the manufacturing process. And when we collaborate with other brands, we make sure their values align with ours: from HOZEN’s plant-based vegan leather goods to Zürner Oceanic’s yachting bags made from reclaimed marine-grade materials.
This approach to our craft means that we don’t - and can’t - compete with big corporations and “fast fashion” brands on price. But that’s okay with us. Our planet is worth it. As we celebrate this Earth Day, let’s be mindful of all the little things we can each do to help - and remember that, while none of us is perfect, we each have the power to make decisions that, collectively, can make a difference.
