“Corde-du-roi” (“cord of the king”) is the mythical origin for the modern word “corduroy”. In reality, the material originated as an industrial workwear fabric. We prefer the more regal connotation. And that’s why, while most corduroy jackets — even the expensive ones — feel stiff and starchy, ours are made from luxurious Italian wide-wale corduroy.
