WARM & WONDERFUL X SPERRY
The long-awaited Warm & Wonderful x Sperry Cloud CVO collection is now available.
With the new collaboration, the heritage British knitwear brand known for the iconic “Black Sheep” jumper famously worn by Lady Di is building off this year’s collection of elevated leisurewear inspired by the princess’s “off-duty” looks, which, along with athletic sneakers, includes French terry crewneck sweatshirts, low-profile baseball caps, and heavyweight rugbies and t-shirts made from 100% organic cotton.
The release of the collection — synced with the premiere of The Crown’s fifth season, which is centered around Diana — marks a big day for the brand: along with the CVOs, Warm & Wonderful is also releasing a bespoke stationery set from master engravers Dempsey & Carroll, and has restocked several of their most popular items, including needlepoint wallets, women’s pyjamas, Woodbine Tote Bags from J. Stark, and several previously sold-out sizes of the Sheep Sweater. The brand also chatted with Eloise Moran, author of The Lady Di Look Book: What Diana Was Trying to Tell Us Through Her Clothes; you can read the interview here, and shop signed copies of the book here.
The new Warm & Wonderful x Sperry Cloud CVO deck sneakers [link to PDP] feature vulcanized construction, Razor-Cut Wave-Siping™ traction, and premium canvas uppers emblazoned with Warm & Wonderful’s beloved all-over “Black Sheep” pattern, available in the brand’s four core colorways: Diana Red, Original Green, Bowie Blue and Primrose Hill Pink. The campaign, featuring Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch, was shot on location in Malibu by LA-based photographer Sam Dameshek.
Paul Sperry invented the world’s first boat shoe — now known as the Authentic Original Top-Sider and hailed by The Official Preppy Handbook [link to PDP] as “the footwear symbol of classic Prep style” — after noting the ease with which his dog navigated his cutter’s slippery decks. Sperry noticed small grooves on the pads of its paws, and was inspired to carve similar channels into the bottom of a solid rubber sole. His intuition was rewarded: the new, grooved soles provided much-improved traction in wet and icy conditions, and the Authentic Original Top-Sider was born, becoming a global fashion staple. Soon after, the Cloud CVO deck sneaker was developed using the same technology, and a decade later, they’d be named as one of the official shoes of the U.S. Navy. Just like Warm & Wonderful, Sperry’s designs set the standard: often imitated, but never replicated.
The Warm & Wonderful x Sperry Cloud CVO deck sneakers are available now: here on our site, at warmandwonderful.com, and at the Rowing Blazers flagship in New York City.
