One week ahead of the first major release of our Fall/Winter collection, we are pleased to introduce the iconic Sperry CVO sneaker in two limited edition styles, exclusive to Rowing Blazers. The CVO — which stands either for Canvas Vulcanized Oxford or Circular Vamp Oxford, depending on whom you believe — is one of the first modern sneakers, designed in 1935 by Paul Sperry and featuring one of the earliest non-slip rubber soles.
The CVO canvas sneaker, though originally designed for sailing, created the blueprint for many of our favorite tennis, skate, and even basketball sneakers. It’s a timeless silhouette that looks as good today as it did when Paul Sperry invented them 85 years ago. We’ve introduced the CVO in our signature croquet stripe, as well as a mismatched navy and natural canvas, cross-stitched with “Dexter” and “Sinister,” Latin for right and left, respectively.
