ROWING BLAZERS X GRATEFUL DEAD
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Rowing Blazers x Grateful Dead capsule, designed in partnership with legendary Shakedown fixture Mike Gracie. The collection of apparel and accessories coincides with Dead & Company’s final tour.
To create the capsule, Rowing Blazers founder and creative director Jack Carlson teamed up with Gracie, a Delawarean Deadhead and self-described “parking-lot purveyor of dry goods you’ll find at Shakedown Streets all across the greater northeast.”
Gracie, Jack explains, was buying Rowing Blazers’ premium rugby shirts and embroidering them with Dead-inspired sporting motifs he created. “He was posting them on Instagram, and people were loving them. So we thought, hey — let’s actually do this.”
The collection includes rugby shirts, tees, sweats, polos, Oxford shirts, a knitted sweater, and, of course, a blazer badge and tie, emblazoned with classic Grateful Dead iconography — as well as some of Gracie’s sporting club-inspired graphics: his original “Grateful Dead Boat Club” dancing bear, a soccer-themed “Dead F.C.” motif, and a graphic adapted from a vintage 1988 rowing tee originally emblazoned with the words “Dead of the Charles.” The collection also features a photo-real tee featuring the Chicago sailboat S/V Scarlet Begonias.
The Rowing Blazers x Grateful Dead collection is available now, both here on our site and at our NYC flagship store at 8 Rivington Street.
