ROWING BLAZERS X ’47
We’re excited to announce the drop of a new line of retro-inspired wide-wale velvet corduroy MLB snapback caps in partnership with Boston-based headwear and athletic apparel brand ’47. The capsule is part of our Fall/Winter ’22 collection, and continues an ongoing partnership between the two brands; previously, we’d worked together on cotton twill dad hats with bullion wire goldwork accents for our popular NBA collection.
“IT’S SPECIAL TO WORK WITH ’47, BECAUSE IT’S A BOSTON BRAND WITH A GREAT HISTORY — AND BOSTON IS MY HOMETOWN.”
The new Rowing Blazers x ’47 collection features classic snapback caps made from our signature Italian wide-wale velvet corduroy. The capsule includes five historic MLB teams: the Boston Red Sox, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets, the New York Yankees, and the San Francisco Giants. Each team is represented with one traditional and one alternate colorway, and the 100% cotton caps feature pre-curved visors and adjustable snapbacks.
“This soft, luxurious, velvety wide-wale corduroy is really special,” explains Rowing Blazers creative director and founder Jack Carlson, “and it’s something for which we’ve become known over the past few years. I’ve had this dream of doing MLB caps in it, and through this collaboration with ‘47 that dream is coming true. It’s special to work with ‘47, because it’s a Boston brand with a great history — and Boston is my hometown.”
“I’VE HAD THIS DREAM OF DOING MLB CAPS IN [OUR SOFT, LUXURIOUS, VELVETY WIDE-WALE CORDUROY], AND THROUGH THIS COLLABORATION WITH ’47 THAT DREAM IS COMING TRUE.”
’47 was founded in Boston by twin brothers Arthur and Henry D'Angelo after immigrating from Italy in 1947. According to legend, “two words: two cents” were the first English words they learned, and soon after, inspired by their new home’s passion for its local teams, the twelve year-old brothers began selling sports memorabilia on the streets around Fenway Park. Today, ’47 is a global lifestyle brand, partnering with Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Football League, the National Hockey League, and over 900 collegiate programs. The company is still anchored by its simple, immutable ethos: a love of sports, an unwavering attention to detail, a passion for quality materials, and, most of all, an attitude that’s “honest, passionate, no bullshit.”
The Rowing Blazers x ’47 capsule is now available: here on our site, and at the new Rowing Blazers flagship in New York City.
