ROWING BLAZERS AT THE 2022 HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA

ROWING BLAZERS AT THE 2022 HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA

The 2022 Henley Royal Regatta is underway, and we’re proud to outfit several of this year’s participating clubs - including Dartmouth Men’s Rowing, Georgetown Men’s Rowing, Leander Club, Molesey Boat Club, Oxford Brookes University Boat Club, and the Yale Old Fellows Rowing Association.

Established on 26 March 1839, the Henley Royal Regatta (originally, before royal patronage, known simply as the Henley Regatta) is an annual five-day rowing event held on the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, England, and is one of the world’s most historic continuing sporting fixtures - so much so that, predating all other rowing clubs and events, it has its own rules, regulations, and organizational structure. The regatta is considered part of the English social season, or “season” - a period throughout the spring and summer that correlates with many of the country’s most celebrated events (including the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race and Wimbledon) and during which socialites host traditional balls, dinner parties, and charity events.

ROWING BLAZERS IS PROUD TO OUTFIT SEVERAL OF THIS YEAR’S PARTICIPATING CLUBS - AS WELL AS SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST ILLUSTRIOUS ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS

The event draws thousands of well-dressed spectators annually (many of the race’s official viewing enclosures along the 1 mile, 550 yard-long course have strict dress codes), and nearly as many entrants from both the UK and around the world; this year, there are 739 competing entities. The regatta’s most prestigious of its hundreds of races is the Grand Challenge Cup for Men’s Eights, awarded since the event’s first incarnation in 1839.

In addition to the clubs we’ve outfitted for this year’s Henley - some of whom we’ve been working with for years - we’re also proud to make custom blazers, blazer buttons, hand-embroidered wire bullion goldwork blazer badges, scarves, ties, hats, polos, sweaters and rugby shirts for many of the world’s most illustrious clubs, teams, organizations and institutionsInterested parties are encouraged to contact our Director of Club & Custom, Drew Poling, at .

For a closer look at the striped, piped, trimmed and badged blazers that are still worn by oarsmen and oarswomen around the world - and at the rituals, elite athletes, prestigious clubs and legendary races associated with them - consider the book that started it all: Rowing Blazers by our creative director and founder Jack Carlson. Featuring photography by F. E. Castleberry, the book has been hailed as one of the “top 20 best fashion books” (Elle); “unapologetically cool and crisp” (Complex); and “right up there with Take Ivy” (Kempt).

The 2022 Henley Royal Regatta will conclude on Sunday, 3 July.
