BLACK HISTORY MONTH: CELEBRATING ARTHUR ASHE’S LIFE AND LEGACY
This Black History Month, we celebrate Arthur Ashe’s legacy and continued impact in partnership with the Arthur Ashe brand.
We are honored to be the exclusive retail partnership for Arthur Ashe, a tennis and lifestyle brand dedicated to the heroic legacy of its namesake.
The Arthur Ashe brand proudly partners with organizations dedicated to affecting social change and extending opportunity and dignity to all people – Social Change Fund United and The Arthur Ashe Legacy Fund at UCLA. A portion of all sales benefit these organizations. Social Change Fund United was created by philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and NBA superstars Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade to support critical and timely issues impacting the Black community. The Arthur Ashe Legacy Fund at UCLA seeks to amplify Ashe’s unwavering commitment to social, political and health-related causes through education, engagement and empowerment. A portion of all sales benefit these organizations. Learn more about the Arthur Ashe partners here.
Arthur Ashe stood at the nexus of sport, culture and politics. He learned to play on the segregated tennis courts of the Jim Crow South before becoming the first Black man to win the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, and a host of other historic titles. He broke the color barrier in apartheid South Africa and was arrested for protesting against racial discrimination outside The White House. He addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Through it all, Ashe was known for his style and cool demeanor on and off the court.
