Exploring the intersections of politics, history, culture and technology (with a healthy dose of slapstick), the sprawling Adventures of Tintin chronicles the exploits of its titular character: a venerable journalist who often finds himself embroiled in the stories he’s been assigned to cover. Tintin’s adventures unfolded throughout a series of serialized comic strips and graphic novels created by Belgian cartoonist Hergé (otherwise known as Georges Remi) between 1929 and 1976; his works have since been translated into over 70 languages and have sold over 200 million copies, making Tintin — along with Snowy, Captain Haddock, and the rest of the crisply-illustrated cast — one of the most recognized and beloved characters of all-time.
