This shirt is based on a vintage Yale polo jersey from the early 80s: it was beautiful. Navy blue soft pima cotton (no tech-y fabrics) with a hand-stitched white satin stripe - not too wide - running diagonally across the front. No one makes polo shirts like these (until now), and there's a reason why: it's not easy, because the pima cotton is a knit, and the satin is a woven. It has to be sewn by hand. But it's worthwhile, because the result is just right. I would never buy a pieced pique diagonal stripe polo shirt; but this is a different animal altogether. You feel like Laddie Sanford, or like Steve McQueen in the Thomas Crown Affair. But it's also modern and uncomplicated.
