Stan Diagonal Checkerboard Quilt Jacket

One of a Kind Stan Jacket $1,550

This coat is made from a 1920's checkerboard quilt in a rare diagonal pattern. It was originally from a collection in the Pacific Northwest Quilters Society, then passed on to one of the quilters grand daughters, Ann Quchedeaux of Salem, Oregon, where it rested for decades. (Ann Quchedeaux's name is chalked onto a patch on the inside left body of the jacket). And then found its way to a home in Southern California. Sat in the living room for two decades, this heavy quilt now lives as a warm overcoat for brisk mornings and chilly nights, awaiting new travels.

Three front pockets, five buttons. Extra heavy batting. All idiosyncrasies, mending, and wear are unique to the original textile. Tailor made in Los Angeles. Dry clean only. All sales are final.

At Rowing Blazers, we love stories, and we love archaeology. For us, Stan’s use of found textiles gives each piece a sense of story, a sense of material biography. Hand-made in Los Angeles using vintage mending, quilting, and appliqué techniques, each Stan piece is one-of-a-kind.
